After Graduating from Mercer University with a BA in English I began developing my interview skills, first as a writer for a local newspaper, then at Coastal Georgia Police Academy, while doing a stint as a Camden County Deputy Sheriff. I learned overlooking details can be deadly. Next I was trained to pre-qualify buyers in the dog-eat-dog office equipment sales field, where not asking all the questions resulted in no sale. In 1999 I moved into the mortgage industry and have continued to hone my interviewing and detail collection skills. I thrive on working with the big picture and prospecting outside of the box on a routine basis. My interviews are verbal and personal, usually done over the phone in less than 20 minutes. I have never handed anyone a blank application and asked them to fill it out. After my interview I input borrower data myself so I can include every detail that needs to be there.

When I'm not originating mortgages, I write magazine articles, and spend a lot of time with my family. My wife, son, and two daughters are all in the same elementary school. My wife has taught in The Glynn County School system since 1988. I believe the most influential force of all on my awareness to detail has been learning the process of getting my daughters dressed in the morning!
